Congratulations on entering the brave new world of college! You have probably left everything that is familiar to you behind and are experiencing a variety of emotions, which is normal because you are entering into the unknown. You should be warned, your life will become fast-paced and a lot will be expected from you: academics, athletics, community service, extramural activities, parents, friends, career development, the list goes on…. There will literally be something to do during every waking moment of the day!
This is also a phase in your life filled with excitement and adventure. During this time you will learn a lot about yourself and grow individually in ways you probably never dreamed of. You will mature into young adults and gain valuable life experiences. You will learn about your abilities, your likes and dislikes and the possibilities that lie before you. You will start getting a better grasp of who you are as a person, what you intend to do with your life and the reasons for doing it? You will start to see the world through different lenses-your own lenses and not your parents, friends or society’s; and you will make choices that will not only impact you in the short term, but in the years to come as well.
The Power is Within You
You have the power within you to have the college career you envision for yourself. The question i  s how badly do you want it? You may not believe you have this power, but you do. It is the same power that got you accepted into college in the first place.
As mentioned above, you are on an adventure; but you don’t have to go it alone. Let a coach be your companion.
